Referee: Alan Young (Cambridgeshire) |
A late lack of concentration cost Harriers dear as they slipped to yet another defeat against Bromley. Bromley, making their first-ever visit to Aggborough, benefited from Harriers' sloppiness to take all three points and leave Harriers stranded at the foot of the table. Two poor teams cancelled each other out for much of the opening half with the game being bogged down in midfield. Harriers were more adventurous than they had been in the midweek defeat at Wrexham but didn't look like breaking down the visitors defence. Bromley keeper Alan Julian wasn't tested until time added on at the end of the half when Lewis Kinsella's free-kick from the right found Kelvin Langmead at the far post but his diving header was directed straight at the keeper. In the opening moments of the second half a strong run from Arthur Gnahoua on the left set up James McQuilkin but he fired over the bar from 25 yards out. On the hour mark Harriers should have taken the lead when Ben Whitfield's corner from the right was met by the head of Keith Lowe but Julian made a great save to keep it out. Ten minutes from the end Harriers felt that they should have had a penalty when Even Garnett was brought down from behind in the box but the referee waved play on. Harriers' failure to take the few chances that they created came back to haunt them four minutes from time; a needless free-kick on the Bromley right was lofted into the penalty area by Joe Anderson, the ball was left by everybody and bounced in at the far post to consign Harriers to their 21st defeat of the season. |
