Sorry Harriers Crash Again: Newport County 3-0 Harriers

A very disappointing performance from Harriers saw them crash to defeat and slide into the relegation zone.

Showing three changes from the team that drew with Wrexham in midweek - Lee Vaughan and Aman Verma coming in for their debuts and Marc Williams making his first start in place of Jack Byrne, Lee Morris and Callum Gittings - Harriers were soon on the back foot as Newport attacked from the start.

Having already been given a couple of warnings they fell behind on 35 minutes to a free-kick scored, inevitably, by ex-Harrier Robbie Matthews. By the interval it was 2-0, one-time Harriers trialist Craig Reid scoring from the penalty spot.

Early in the second half Reid added the third, another soft penalty, to put Newport completely in charge. Harriers offered next to no threat with Marc Williams getting no support from the midfield, until Lee Morris came on 20 minutes from the end. By then, however, it was too late for Harriers to stage a comeback.
