Harriers Edged Out In Thriller: Harriers 2-3 Newport County
A game of two halves saw Harriers fight back from two goals down at the break to level the scores only to be sunk by a late winner.
Steve Burr sent our a much-changed Harriers line-up with Tom Shaw, Ollie Thorne and Matt Blair all returning to the starting eleven and Jamille Matt given his first start. The makeshift team were much the poorer side in the first half and fell behind on 28 minutes when Craig Reid scored.
Tom Shaw was unlucky to turn the ball past Danny Lewis after making a good challenge on Reid to double the deficit on 36 minutes. After the break, though, Harriers stepped up their performance and had the ball in the net after 56 minutes but Matt's strike was ruled out for offside.
Blair bundled in from close range on the hour mark to give Harriers hope and three minutes later Matt found the net again, this time the goal was allowed to stand, to level the scores. Harriers pressed for another but were left empty handed after ex-Harrier Paul Bignot fired in the winner for Newport eight minutes from the end.
