Two Points Dropped By Harriers: Gateshead 2-2 Harriers
Harriers came from behind to lead only to be pegged back by a late leveller and had to settle for a share of the points at Gateshead.
Steve Burr had his options stretched to the limit with regard to his team selection and was forced to include the not-fully-fit Jamille Matt and Lee Morris on the bench, giving Nick Wright a second consecutive start.
A scrappy opening stage to the game saw Harriers fall behind to a well-worked Gateshead goal by on-loan debutant Michael Liddle after 16 minutes. Harriers were only behind for six minutes, though and drew level when Chris McPhee set up Matt Blair for his sixth goal of the season.
Two minutes later McPhee was the provider again, setting up Wright, also for his sixth of the season and like Blair second in consecutive games, to give Harriers the lead which they held until the interval.
After the break Harriers had chances to extend their lead but had to withstand a lot of pressure from the home side which eventually broke their defences on 73 minutes when Jon Shaw headed in the equaliser.
With all of the teams who were above them before kick-off failing to win, Harriers will see this as two points dropped and an opportunity to move into the play-offs, for however brief a time, missed.
