Harriers Ride Their Luck Into The Play-Offs: Cambridge United 1-2 Harriers

A stoppage-time header from Jamille Matt gave Harriers victory at Abbey Stadium and lifted them into the play-off positions, at least until tomorrow.

Harriers will stay in the top five if Fleetwood fail to beat Grimsby at Highbury but they almost missed out on the chance to get into the play-off places.

Leading from Sean Canham's deflected 42 minute shot they were pegged back in the 91st minute when Adam Marriott despatched a free-kick past the wall and beyond the reach of Danny Lewis.  The drama continued, however, and 80 seconds later Matt was in the right place to glance a header into the home net to spark scenes of wild celebration amongst the 92 travelling supporters.

Despite their terrible form at the moment - United have now lost seven and drawn one of the last eight - Cambridge caused Harriers a few problems and played better than their league position would suggest.  But, as is so often the case when a team is at the wrong end of the table on such a run of form, all the luck went against them while everything went for Harriers, the team that has now won four in a row.
