Wonder Strike Sinks Harriers: Harriers 0-1 Burnley
A stunning free-kick from Irish international Robbie Brady was the difference as Harriers were beaten by Premiership Burnley.
The Premiership club sent a side that was strong enough to give Harriers a stern test despite The Clarets also having another fixture taking place simultaneously at Alfreton Town.
There were few clear chances at either end in the first half; Harriers' best fell to Liam Truslove but Nick Pope saved while at the other end Brandon Hall kept out efforts from Brady and Ashley Barnes. In between those two Clarets shots Brady fired in the only goal of the game, a free-kick from over 20 yards out that curled around the outside of the wall and left Hall grasping at thin air.
After the interval Harriers pressed for an equaliser; Manny Sonupe beat Pope with a low shot only for it to come back off the post and later on Pope made a stunning save to keep out substitute Andre Brown's close range header. The visiting keeper also made saves to keep out Joe Ironside, a trialist and Brown again as Harriers had the best of the chances.
Burnley could have made the outcome more comfortable for themselves when Matt Lowton got into the penalty area but his angled shot came back off the crossbar.
