Under-23s Defeated In Feisty Friendly: Lye Town 3-0 Harriers U23

Mark Yates's Under-23 side found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-0 defeat in feisty game at Stourbridge Road.

In-form Lye had won all of their pre-season games so far and took the lead after just four minutes when former Harriers academy player Jack Till pounced on a loose ball after Connor Collins' shot had been parried.  Experienced forward Ben Billingham could have doubled the lead but hit the post with a free-kick in stoppage time.

Billingham did double the lead seven minutes after the break, latching on to a pass through the inside right channel he raced clear before clipping the ball past Harriers' keeper and inside the far post.  Midway through the half the same player added the third with a well-hit strike from distance after being set up by Till.

Both sides were reduced to ten men with twenty minutes remaining; Lye players reacted to a heavy challenge by Harry Higginson on Billingham with a mass brawl ensuing with punches being thrown on both sides.  Once the referee had regained control Harriers' Cameron Howkins and Lye's Alex Dallison were given their marching orders.
