Preview: Harriers v AFC Telford United
Harriers begin the New Year in the same way that they ended the old one: a local derby with AFC Telford United.
Having drawn the first encounter Harriers will need to take all three points today to make the Boxing Day result look like a good point as well as strengthening their position in the play-offs.
Joe Ironside picked up an ankle injury at The New Buck's Head and will be assessed before today's game as will Declan Weeks who missed that game with a knee injury suffered in the win over Nuneaton and Tyrone Williams who got a head injury in the same match. Fraser Horsfall will look to celebrate making his move to Aggborough permanent with a clean sheet but Kennedy Digie will not feature having joined Nuneaton Town on loan, nor Ben Clarke who has left the club by mutual consent.
Following the Boxing Day bore draw Telford have now won just once in seven games and not won away since taking the points at North Ferriby in October. They will be looking for the points to increase the gap between them and the relegation zone which currently stands at just four points.
I expect Harriers to line-up as follows (4-3-3): Hall; Pearson, Taylor, O'Connor, Pearson; Croasdale, McQuilkin, Ngwatala; Sonupe, Brown, Austin.
Subs (from): Danko, Eve, Palmer, Truslove, Vaughan, Wright.
Missing (injured): Bradley, Ironside, Weeks, Williams.
Missing (on-loan): J. Brown, Digie.
Missing (dual-reg.): Finch, Webb.
This afternoon's referee will be Scott Simpson from Stoke-on-Trent. This will be his second Harriers game having done the 2-1 win over Alfreton earlier this season.
The weather forecast suggests that the current rain will have passed and it will be partly cloudy by kick-off time with a temperature around 7°C.
