Preview: Harriers v Alfreton Town

There are two new faces available for Harriers ahead of this afternoon's encounter with Alfreton at Aggborough.

Midfielder Ollie Shenton arrives on loan from Stoke City, he will be with the club until January, having previously had a spell on loan with Wrexham last season in the National League.  Coming in to cover the defence is Jamie Sharman who will spend the next month at Aggborough on loan from Chesterfield.

John Pemberton will be able to use both players should he so choose; Shenton is likely to come straight in in place of Alex Prosser to deputise for the injured Declan Weeks but the rest of the starting line-up should be the same as the side that triumphed at Kettering on Bank Holiday Monday.  Two of the side will be facing their former club: Richard Peniket and Cliff Moyo.

Alfreton have had a good start to the season and come to Aggborough on the back of three straight victories over Bradford, Guiseley and Southport that have lifted them up to fourth place in the league.  Their top scorer so far this season is former Harrier Amari Morgan-Smith

Last season this fixture ended as a 1-0 win for Alfreton with former Harrier Reece Styche the scorer.  Generally Harriers have a good record against Alfreton with seven wins and four draws from the 15 games played.

I expect Harriers to line-up as follows (5-3-2): Gregory; Austin, Davidson, Moyo, R. Williams, Johnson; Shenton, Butterfield, E. Williams; Chambers, Peniket.
Subs (from): Freemantle, Higginson, D. Lowth, Palmer, Sharman, Taylor-Randle, White.
Missing (injured): Weeks.

This afternoon's referee will be Richard Holmes from Preston who will be officiating at his first Harriers game.

The weather at kick-off time is forecast to be partly cloudy with a temperature of 18°C and a 5% chance of rain.

Before all that, though, the Under-23 side take on Brocton at King Edward VI Playing Field in Stourbridge, kicking-off at 10:30am.  They will be looking to build upon last weekend's 20(!)-1 victory over Continental Star.  Tomorrow afternoon the Ladies begin their season with a Women's FA Cup tie against Leek Town at Lea Castle, kick-off 2pm.
