Preview: York City v Harriers
The games don't get any less tough for Harriers as they travel to leaders York City this afternoon.
Having faced two teams who had won five games in a row each in Farsley and Darlington Harriers now take on the unbeaten Minstermen needing a result to bounce back from Wednesday's disappointing defeat at Darlington.
There could be at least one change to the side beaten at Blackwell Meadows as defender Rhys Williams suffered a broken nose in the build up to the game's only goal and is a doubt for the game at Bootham Crescent; Harry Higginson is the likely replacement should he be unable to take part. The rest of the side is likely to be unchanged, allowing leading scorer Ashley Chambers to face on of his former clubs.
City have had a great start to the season and already are eight points clear at the top of the table; unbeaten in 15 league games they are also still in the FA Cup where they will face fellow National League North side Altrincham in the First Round.
Last season this fixture ended in a 3-0 win for Harriers with Ed Williams scoring twice and Joe Ironside getting the other. Overall Harriers have the edge with twelve wins to nine from 31 games played, and at Bootham Crescent they lead the series on goal difference as both teams have won four of the 14 matches played.
I expect Harriers to line-up as follows (5-3-2): Gregory; Austin, Davidson, Moyo, R. Williams, Johnson; Weeks, Butterfield, Hemmings; Chambers, Peniket.
Subs (from): Diau, Freemantle, Fuller, Higginson, D. Lowth, S. Lowth, Mountjoy, Palmer, Prosser, Scott, Shenton, Taylor-Randle, White, E. Williams.
The referee will be Jon Kenny from Cheshire. This will be his second Harriers game having done the defeat against Gloucester at Aggborough earlier this season.
This afternoon's weather is forecast to be damp with a 55% chance of light rain and a temperature around 10°C.
Elsewhere this weekend the Under-23 side face Quorn's Under-21s in the Midland League Bowl this morning, kicking off at 10:30 at Farley way while tomorrow afternoon the ladies travel to play Sedgeley & Gornal at The Dell, kick-off at 2pm.
