Preview: Southport v Harriers
Top-of-the-table Harriers travel north this afternoon to face a Southport side still searching for their first win of the season.
After last weekend's 3-0 win over Blyth Harriers head a group of four teams with maximum points, their two wins from two their best start to a league season since 2003 when beating Mansfield and Darlington in the Football League.
Keith Lowe returns to the squad after missing last Saturday's game through illness, but boss Russ Penn may stick with the same side that performed so well in that game. Caleb Richards will be facing one of his former clubs.
Southport began the season with a 2-2 draw against Gloucester and followed that up with a 3-2 defeat at Spennymoor. They will be without the injured Russ Benjamin but returning from injury is Isaac Buckley-Ricketts.
Last season the teams didn't get to meet but the season before goals from Lowe and Ashley Hemmings gave Harriers a 2-1 at Haig Avenue. Harriers have a good record against The Sandgrounders with 19 wins to 11 from 39 games played.
I expect Harriers to line-up as follows (4-2-3-1): Simpson; Foulkes, Richards, Cameron, Bajrami; Carrington, Martin; Hemmings, Austin, Sterling-James; Freemantle.
Subs (from): Penny, Lowe, Montrose, Bell, Lissimore, White, Emery.
Missing (injured): Moyo.
Missing (suspended): Morgan-Smith.
Missing (on-loan): Palmer.
The referee will be Kristian Silcock from Liverpool. This will be his third time in charge of a Harriers game, the previous two saw a 2-2 draw with Leamington and a 4-2 defeat against Kings Lynn.
Elsewhere the Under-23s face Wyre Forest at the training ground in the West Midlands League while the reserves travel to Redditch Borough in the Midland League. The Under-21s' game at Silhill in the morning has bee postponed.
