Match Report by St@tto

Another scrappy match saw Harriers reduced to ten-men, unable to break down their opponents and their four-game unbeaten run brought to an end.

For the third game in a row Mark Yates named an unchanged side, a choice forced upon him through circumstances with four key players on the sidelines through injury.

Harriers started the game brightly; in the opening minutes Michael Blackwood got to the byline on the left and crossed into the middle of the penalty area for Dean Bennett who headed straight at Histon goalkeeper Danny Naisbitt.  Shortly afterwards Paul Bignot made an incisive run through the inside-right channel before feeding the ball to Bennett on the wing whose cross was flapped at by Naisbitt and fell to Russ Penn who saw his shot cleared off the line by Matt Langston. Midway through the half Blackwood shot wide after a good run on the left.  Harriers failed to take advantage of their early superiority and fell behind after 27 minutes when Erkan Okay's cross from the right was swept in at the far post by Cliff Akurang.

Six minutes into the second period Harriers were reduced to ten men when Mark Creighton was shown the red card after hauling down Histon substitute Daniel Wright on the edge of the penalty area.  From the resultant free-kick Adrian Cambridge's shot hit the wall and deflected away for a corner.  Shortly afterwards the home team doubled their advantage, Okay heading in at the far post from Nathaniel Knight-Percival's left-wing cross.

Chris MacKenzie kept Harriers in the game in the second period with some good saves, notably from Wright whose header he tipped over the bar.  Then he parried a shot from the same player and was fortunate to see Knight-percival fire the rebound over the bar.  Histon should have added a third four minutes from the end when a left-wing throw was flicked on at the near post by Langston to Antonio Murray at the far post who somehow managed to head over from two yards out.  In stoppage time Harriers pulled back a consolation goal; Michael McGrath fed the ball to Andy Ferrell on the left and his low cross was bundled in at the far post by Matt Barnes-Homer for his first goal in a Harriers shirt.
