Match Report by St@tto

Harriers' four-game unbeaten run was brought to a halt by a goal in each half by struggling Oxford who climbed above them in the conference table.

Scott Bevan and Simon Russell returned to the starting line up for the first time in months to boost Harriers but their presence wasn't enough to cut out the silly mistakes that continue to plague the side.  Harriers were not helped in their cause by the loss of James Constable shortly after the half-hour mark when he was sent off for elbowing United defender James Clark in an off-the-ball incident.

The day could have turned out differently for Harriers had Justin Richards' header from Russell's cross gone in and not cannoned back off the crossbar or had they not had a penalty appeal turned down when Michael Blackwood was sent tumbling to the ground.  As it was United went ahead just after the half-hour mark when debutant Matt Green bundled the ball in from close range after Bevan hesitated in coming for a cross.  Things went from bad to worse for the home side as they lost Constable a couple of minutes later and then had the penalty appeal turned down four minutes before the break.  In the last minute of the half the numbers were evened up when Carl Pettefer was sent off for a late challenge on Michael McGrath.

Against the run of play - Harriers had had a lot of possession - United doubled their advantage twenty minutes from the end with just their second shot of the game, substitute Ashley Barnes - also making his debut - headed in from a right wing free kick.  Harriers huffed and puffed through the rest of the game but couldn't break down the visiting defence, even when they switched to a three-man attack; the closest they came to a goal was in the last minute when Iyseden Christie took the ball around Billy Turley in the Oxford goal only to see his shot cleared to safety by Chris Willmott.
