Match Report by St@tto

Harriers must make a midweek trip to Bootham Crescent to take on York again after their FA Trophy Third round tie ended all square.

The visitors took an early lead forcing Harriers to come from behind with time running out but it was Harriers who looked the most likely to go and win the game by the end.

Harriers showed one change from the team that had beaten Histon in midweek, Lee Baker returning to the side in place of the cup-tied Craig Armstrong.  In the early stages, however, Harriers were not as good as they had been in their midweek win and it was the visitors who came closest to open the scoring first, Adam Bartlett doing well to parry Richard Brodie's shot.

For Harriers Darryl Knights had the first clear opportunity, running through the inside-right channel before firing wide of the far post.  It was the visitors who broke the deadlock on 25 minutes; Adam Boyes received the ball from the right and cut inside before beating Bartlett with a shot to the far post.  Harriers could have drawn level before the break; Knights' pass sent Justin Richards into the penalty area on the left, his shot was pushed onto the bar by Michael Ingham and after David mcDermott head the rebound down Andy Ferrell saw his shot blocked.

Early in the second half Simon Rusk could have doubled York's advantage but his shot from the left went so wide it found Boyes on the opposite flank, his cross picked out Brodie who had a free header but could only direct the ball over the bar.  At the other end Harriers were still creating chances and McDermott set up Richards shortly afterwards but Ingham held on to his shot at the near post.

On the hour mark Baker sent over a good deep cross from the left for an unmarked Richards to head over.  Harriers eventually drew level with fifteen minutes remaining; substitute Martin Brittain picked up the ball on the right, cut inside and hit a low shot that beat Ingham at his near post.  As time wore on Harriers looked the stronger and should have won the game with eight minutes remaining; MArtin Riley's clearance fell to Matt Barnes-Homer who raced clear of the York defence and beat the onrushing Ingham with a good shot only to see it come back of the post and City's defence get back to clear.
