Match Report by St@tto

Harriers stretched their unbeaten run in the Conference to eight games and moved into the play-off places despite being held by York at Aggborough.

Frosty conditions made good football difficult for both sides, particularly in the latter stages of the game, but both teams tried their best to win the game as befits teams in form on winning runs: Harriers had won their previous five on home soil while the visitors had won their last four in all competitions.

Clear cut goalscoring chances were at a premium at both ends of the pitch; Harriers almost took the lead when Greg Young sliced Callum Gittings' cross towards his own goal but, luckily for him, straight at 'keeper Michael Ingham.  Vaughan's cross from the right just past the half hour mark whipped invitingly across the goalmouth but just out of the reach of Tom Sharpe who threw himself at it.  Another Gittings pull-back late in the half was only partially cleared by the visiting defence and fell to Chris McPhee whose overhead kick skimmed the top of the crossbar.

Early in the second half Harriers continued to have the better of the game and did actually get the ball into the visitors' net but McPhee's close range effort from Gittings' cross was ruled out as McPhee had strayed offside.  Just past the hour mark the visitors went close when Robbie Weir's shot from just outside the penalty area had Danny Lewis in the Harriers goal well beaten but cannoned back off his right-hand post.

The quality of the game took a dive in the last twenty minutes as the temperature plummeted and the surface became more awkward for the players to cope with; passes went astray from both sides and players found it difficult to run, or once running, stop.  The visitors had their best spell of the game now and threw more bodies forward and looked the most likely to break the deadlock in the closing stages, although it was Harriers' Lee Vaughan who was the one to test a goalkeeper with a last minute shot that was easy for Ingham to gather.

Harriers introduced new loanees Craig Lindfield and Mitchell McPike for their debuts late on but neither had much time or opportunity to shine.
