Chris McPhee marked his 100th appearance in a Harriers shirt with his fifteenth goal of the season, earning Harriers their first ever point against Luton.

An absorbing, often tense, match between two of the Conference's in-form teams saw The Hatters take the lead through former Harrier Matt Barnes-Homer before Harriers' never-say-die attitude saw them come back to take a share of the points.

The early stages of the game were even, the home team probably just about edging the possession.  The Hatters almost got off to the perfect start, Barnes-Homer and Lloyd Owusu combining inside the first minute with the latter breaking into the penalty area before crashing to the ground; the referee wasn't fooled, though, and instead of awarding a penalty he showed Owusu the yellow card for diving.

Chances were missed at both ends; Fred Murray made a good break on the left midway through the half, crossing to the near post for Owusu who should have done better than fire wide of the upright.  At the other end Matt Blair did well on the right, lofting the ball into the centre of the penalty area onto the head of Callum Gittings but he headed tamely straight at Mark Tyler in the home goal.

Luton took the lead moments later; Barnes-Homer bustling his way into the Harriers penalty area, holding off the challenge of Michael Briscoe before a lucky bounce off the defender put him in position to score from a narrow angle, although there was confusion for a short while until the officials decided to let the goal stand after the ball had cannoned off both posts and back into play.

Before the break Harriers could have equalised; Gittings' corner from the right was not cleared and fell to Mark Albrighton who worked himself into a shooting position, his shot then turned onto the crossbar by Sean Canham.

Harriers came out stronger in the early stages of the second half and drew level on 52 minutes, McPhee getting up at the far post to head in Gittings' free-kick from the left. Luton pressed forward and Harriers had to absorb a lot of pressure once again, but Town didn't really look like scoring again; the best chance came midway through the half, Town's man-of-the-match Barnes-Homer held up the ball well before teeing up a shooting opportunity for Keith Keane who blasted over the bar from 20 yards out.  Shortly afterwards Zdenek Kroca headed at Danny Lewis at a free-kick, the keeper parried the ball back into play and Howells' follow-up shot was headed away by Keith Briggs.

Harriers were forced to try and attack on the counter, the midfield not really keeping hold of the ball long enough to take the pressure off the backline.  Blair could have won the game late on, breaking clear through the middle but he was denied by a well-timed tackle by Murray before he could get a shot again.  Harriers were able to soak up the pressure and hold out to take a point.
