Match Report by St@tto

Ryan Rowe came off the bench to score again - the third time in the last four games - grabbing Harriers' last minute winner at The Lamb.

With the game seemingly destined to end in a goalless draw Rowe struck with just 11 seconds of normal time remaining to help Harriers to record their first win at Tamworth since 1979 and their fifth in a row. Taking out the win at Alfreton they have won four in a row in the league without conceding a goal. As the form team in the Conference Harriers have surged up the league climbing eight places in three days and now sit in eighth place, their highest position of the season, just four points off the play-offs.

Steve Burr was forced into making changes from the team that had beaten Wrexham at the weekend with both Keith Briggs and Callum Gittings suspended. James Vincent returned to the starting line-up and Anthony Malbon had to drop back into midfield; Nathan Blissett came in to partner Jamille Matt in attack.

The frosty conditions made the game hard for both sides, and by half time most of the Tamworth players had been forced into changing their boots to help them stay on their feet. The match was fairly scrappy with goalscoring opportunities at a premium; after just ten minutes Matt fired over the bar from close range after good work by Marvin Johnson on the left wing had created the chance for him while wasteful shooting by the home team left Danny Lewis' goal unthreatened. George Baldock jinked his way into the Harriers penalty area but once in good position he scooped his shot high and wide; Adriano Moke set up Baldock ten minutes before the break but his shot was blocked by Kyle Storer.  Late in the half Lewis was finally called into action when he got down well to save from Paul Tait who shot through a crowded penalty area.

The second half started in similar fashion but as the game wore on it became clear that Harriers were the more likely to break the deadlock and win the game. With 15 minutes left Malbon's strong run through the middle allowed him to set Johnson free on the left his cross was headed against the far post by Matt. Tamworth were reduced to ten men with nine minutes remaining due to an injury to Scott Barrow after they had used all of their substitutes; from then on they were content to try to defend the point that they had but with five minutes remaining Johnson had a shot cleared of the line by Matthew Regan.

There was a rare run out as a substitute for Ricky Shakes, on for Johnson in the closing minutes, and it was his cross that was headed goalwards by Malbon for Rowe to nip in ahead of Lambs 'keeper James Severn to head in the opening goal and end the home side's resistance.
