Match Report by St@tto

A disappointing, lacklustre, performance from Harriers saw them defeated by ten-man Macclesfield at Moss Rose.

Macclesfield's groundstaff and volunteers had done a great job to get the game on but even so the freezing conditions made for a scrappy encounter.

The home team had the better of the opening exchanges, with most of the possession and most of the goalscoring chances, but Harriers defence was more than equal to them. Harriers' best chance of the half eventually came in the last minute of it, Ryan Rowe setting up Marvin Johnson whose cross from the left just evaded Anthony Malbon.

The only goal of the game came ten minutes after the break; a free-kick deep on the left taken quickly sent Jack Mackreth away on the opposite flank, he got to the byline and crossed to the near post where Wade Fairhurst headed past Danny Lewis.

Harriers huffed and puffed in search of an equaliser but never tested Lance Cronin in the home goal. The closest that they came were a fluke effort midway through the half by Johnson after Danny Pilkington, making his return from injury, had scuffed his cross that hit the crossbar and then a Rowe header from Lee Vaughan's right-wing cross seven minutes from time that also rattled the bar.

Results eleswhere went in Harriers' favour meaning that they kept their place in the play-off positions but wasted the opportunity to close the gap to the top of the table.
