Match Report by St@tto

Harriers suffered their first defeat in nine games, undone by sloppy defending to concede the only goal of the game.

On their first ever visit to The Hive Harriers were without manager Steve Burr who was absent having been given permission to talk to Forest Green about their vacant managerial position.

In his stead Assistant Manager Gary Whild took charge of the team and made a number of changes to the side that had struggled to beat Bradford Park Avenue in the midweek FA Cup Replay.  In came Mickey Demetriou, Marvin Johnson, James Dance and Michael Gash.  A strong wind blowing from end-to-end of the ground spoiled the game as a spectacle, though, and there was little in the way of decent football played by either side.

Barnet took the lead on 25 minutes; Harriers failed to deal with a corner from the right and Luisma Villa was left with an easy finish at the far post.  Late in the half Gash headed over the bar for Harriers and Jamie Grimes headed wide while Danny Lewis had to save from Harry Crawford to keep the deficit at one.

After the break a goal line clearance by Grimes kept Harriers in the game before a lengthy hold-up to the game ended with Johnson being carried off on a stretcher with a back injury.  He was the second player to leave the game on a stretcher as Barnet's Dani Lopez had lasted just 15 minutes.

Joe Lolley came on for Johnson and immediately gave Harriers a spark.  He went close to an equaliser but his shot was pushed away by Graham Stack. With just over ten minutes left Grimes went close again with a glancing header from Lee Fowler's free-kick.

Fortunately for Harriers results elsewhere meant that they maintained their position in second place in the league and didn't lose any ground on leaders Cambridge who were beaten for the first time this season.
