Match Report by St@tto

A goal minutes into stoppage time denied Harriers of all three points and cost them second place in the league.

Steve Burr named an unchanged side from the one that had despatched Sutton United from the FA Cup at the weekend, meaning that Mickey Demetriou had to be content with a place on the bench on his return from suspension.

Macclesfield, fresh from their own cup heroics, nearly took the lead midway through the first half when Peter Winn's shot hit the post but it was Harriers who broke the deadlock on 28 minutes; Callum Gittings firing in his second goal in as many games.

Harriers should have doubled their advantage on the half-hour mark; Joe Lolley jinked his way through the home defence before shooting home from a narrow angle but the linesman's flag ruled out his effort for a foul that nobody else saw.

The lively Lolley fired narrowly wide on a couple of further occasions and Kyle Storer had a long-range effort saved by Rhys Taylor as Harriers pressed to increase their advantage.  The home team were not prepared to sit back, though, and put Harriers under a lot of pressure as the game wore on.

A substantial amount of the last quarter of the game was spent with Harriers camped in their own half and eventually their pressure told as Macclesfield skipper Paul Turnbull forced the ball home from close range after Harriers failed to clear a corner.
