Match Report by St@tto

A spectacular second-half capitulation saw Harriers throw away the lead and slump to one of their heaviest defeats of the season.

Anthony Malbon's first goal since November had given Harriers the lead on the half-hour mark following good work by Adrian Cieslewicz and the game looked at that point as though it could be a continuation of midweek win over Woking.

Cambridge, like Harriers, were on a poor run of form that had seen them win just two of their previous ten league games and looked vulnerable; had Harriers been in better form themselves they could have been able to take advantage.

Four minutes before the break United drew level; Harriers failed to clear a corner from the left, eventually the ball fell to Josh Coulson and his shot was turned into his own net by Josh O'Keefe.

Harriers had a chance to draw level early in the second half but Josh Gowling's header from Kyle Storer's free-kick went across the face of goal and narrowly wide.

Cambridge took the lead after 52 minutes as Harriers' defensive collapse began; Chey Dunkley's poor clearance allowed in Delano Sam-Yorke whose cross to the far post was headed in from close range by Ryan Bird.  Two minutes later Sam-Yorke got on the scoresheet himself; allowed to run through the inside-right channel by the statuesque Harriers defence he fired in from an impossibly narrow angle to make it 3-1.

Harriers threw bodies forward in search of a goal to reduce the deficit; Cieslewicz jinked his way into the penalty area on the right before firing a shot across the face of goal that was saved by Will Norris even though it was going wide on 56 minutes.  Moments later Lee Vaughan made a similar run, with a similar end result, his shot going wide of the far post.  Midway through the half a long ball over the tp of the home defence by Gowling found Amari Morgan-Smith but his shot was weak and straight at Norris.

Dunkley's afternoon got worse twelve minutes from the end when he brought down Nathan Arnold in the penalty area.  Luke Berry took the spot kick, firing his shot straight down the middle of the goal.

The rout was completed in stoppage time, substitute Mitch Austin getting to the byline on the left before crossing to the far post where Andy Pugh, also a substitute, in acres of space had time to bring the ball down and volley it past Nathan Vaughan.
