Match Report by St@tto

Harriers recorded their first win under the stewardship of Gary Whild taking a narrow victory over Macclesfield Town.

Following on from their improved performance at Wrexham at the weekend Harriers, showing just one change to the side - Josh O'Keefe in for the suspended Kyle Storer, got off to a flyer taking the lead after just 46 seconds - only one second more than they had needed in their last home game.

Lee Vaughan's long ball forward found Callum Gittings who took a touch to control before unleashing a powerful 30-yard shot that flew over Rhys Taylor in the Silkmen's goal.

Harriers could have doubled their advantage after eight minutes when Mickey Demetriou's long-range shot was tipped on to the bar by Taylor and then Anthony Malbon fired the rebound over.

At the other end Paul Turnbull went close to grabbign an equaliser midway through the half when he curled a free-kick around the wall but his shot hit the post.

A Harriers counter-attack seven minutes from the interval saw Marvin Johnson, on as a substitute for the injured Adrian Cieslewicz, break free on the left before crossing to the opposite flank where Amari Morgan-Smith was quicker to the ball than Taylor and tucked it inside the post for his tenth goal of the season.

The visitors need just two minutes to pull a goal back, Scott Boden getting to the byline on the left before pulling the ball back to the far post where Danny Whitaker was on hand to blast a first-time shot past Danny Lewis.

After the break Macclesfield began to get into the game more and forced Harriers onto the back foot although it was Harriers who had the best chance to add to the score when just before the hour mark Gittings' free-kick from deep on the right found Josh Gowling at the far post but he volleyed into the side netting.

Shortly afterwards Lee Vaughan did well on the right to get into the penalty area but his cross across the face of goal was just out of the reach of Malbon.

Despite enjoying most of the possession in the second half Macclesfield didn't really threaten an equaliser with Danny Lewis not having a save to make.  In fact neither side managed a shot on target in the second period.
