Match Report by St@tto

Danny Wright's first goals for the club helped Harriers to a 3-1 win over Braintree Town at Aggborough, ending their nine-game winless streak.

Harriers were quick out of the blocks to erase the disappointment of last Saturday' defeat at Torquay, needing just seven minutes to take the lead; Callum Gittings' ball over the top of the visiting defence set Wright free on the right who held off his marker before slotting the ball past Nick Hamman in the Town goal.

Gary Whild made several changes to the side that was beaten at Plainmoor, bringing in loanees James Fry and Nat Kelly in place of Kevin Nicholson and the suspended and departed Josh Gowling and Jack Byrne back from injury in place of Ahmed Obeng.

The great start for Harriers got even better after 12 minutes when Jared Hodgkiss combined with Wright before send a pass down the left win for Lee Hughes who cut in from the wing before firing across Hamman to double the lead.

Braintree were limited to just one decent chance in the first half, substitute Jordan Cox having his header from Sam Habergham's left wing cross saved by Danny Lewis.  Before the break Harriers increased their lead further; Town failed to clear Gittings' free-kick properly and when Jack Byrne crossed from the right Wright was on hand at the near post to head in his second.

The visitors came out for the second half fired up and pulled a goal back after just 19 seconds, the impressive Kenny Davis lobbing Lewis from 25 yards out.

Town managed to keep Harriers' chances limited after the break but the home side were always in control of the game.  Late on Simeon Akinola went close for Braintree with a long-range free-kick that beat the wall but was easily saved by Lewis.

Youngster Luke Maxwell nearly recorded his first goal for the club in stoppage time but his header from Gittings' left wing free-kick went across the face of goal and harmlessly wide.
