Match Report by St@tto

Harriers led for just the second time this season but ultimately were unable to hold on for their first victory.

Kelvin Langmead finally returned to the side in the centre of the defence in place of the injured Jordan Tunnicliffe and immediately strengthened the back line winning numerous headers.

It was at the other end, though, that Harriers were strongest in the early stages of the game with Tahvon Campbell in particular proving to be a thorn in the side of the hosts on the Harriers left.  After just ten minutes Harriers took the lead; after all of their early threat had come from the left a cross from the right by Aman Verma picked out Gurjit Singh who rose above his marker to head in his fourth goal of the season.

Harriers did have the ball in the net again seven minutes later, Campbell crossing from the right to skipper Jared Hodgkiss at the far post but his header was turned in on the line by Verma who was offside and the goal was ruled out.  The lack of a second goal was to prove Harriers' undoing later on.

After the break the home side came out fired up and came at Harriers from the start; it was, however, Harriers who first came closest to adding to the scoreline when Singh fired across the face of goal from a narrow angle.  Town counter-attacked straight away and Jordan Burrow's cross from the left found substitute Josh MacDonald at the far post but his effort was well saved by Alex Palmer.

The game ebbed and flowed and after another Town attack Langmead headed clear to Singh whose through ball sent Reece Styche away but when he got into the home penalty area his shot was poor and went well wide.

The equaliser came midway through the half; youngster CJ Hamilton, on loan from Sheffield United, jinked his way into the penalty area from the right before tucking a shot inside the near post that left Palmer flat-footed.

Harriers kept searching for a second goal but were limited to shooting from distance with efforts from Joe Clarke and Calvin Dinsley not troubling Matt Glennon while Verma's shot was parried but didn't have enough power to get over the line.

With time running out a Clarke corner from the right found Langmead but his header was cleared off the line by Matty Brown and in stoppage time Clarke made a good run trough the middle but rather than taking the shot himself passed to Andrew Fox who fired wide.
