Match Report by St@tto

An injury-time penalty from Reece Styche rescued a point for Harriers who trailed twice against ten-man Torquay.

Despite being without a win in six games the visitors were lively and dominated the game for long periods of the first half but it was Harriers who showed first when on-loan Tahvon Campbell worked his way into the United penalty area but fired straight at Fabian Spiess.

Straight away United replied and the dangerous James Hurst held off the challenge of his marker before prodding a shot past Alex Palmer that hit the keeper's left-hand post and rolled across the face of the goal and wide.

Harriers fell behind on 15 minutes; Calvin Dinsley's clumsy challenge on Daniel Butler earned him a yellow card and from the resultant free-kick Hurst curled his shot over the wall and into the top corner of the net.  United pressed for more goals and went close to doubling their advantage on the half-hour when Louis Briscoe was allowed to run at the defence and fired his shot just wide of the far top corner.

Occasionally Harriers were able to break out of their own half and after a Jared Hodgkiss cross from the right was not cleared Gurjit Singh hit a shot on the turn just wide.  At the other end Lathaniel Rowe-Turner came to Harriers' rescue when Palmer punched Exodus Geohaghon's long throw towards his own net, the defender on hand to head clear.

Despite being on the back foot for most of the half in the closing minutes of it Harriers should have been level when Styche's cross from the right found Kelvin Langmead at the far post but his header was well saved by Spiess.  Moments later Styche himself went close with a long-range lob that hit the top of the crossbar.

Five minutes after the break the visitors were reduced to ten men when former Harrier Simon Heslop was sent-off for scything down Styche.  Soon afterwards Campbell's corner from the right found the head of Rowe-Turner but Spiess, who was only playing after a successful appeal by Torquay against his sending-off in the previous match, reached out to make another good save.

With a man advantage Harriers drew level on 57 minutes; Jake Green's cross from the left was misjudged by Spiess who punched it straight upwards and Aman Verma was on hand to head it over the line.  United hit back straight away and nearly regained the lead but Alex fisher headed over.

On 68 minutes United took the lead for the second time, Briscoe's shot deflected into the path of Hurst who blasted it past Palmer.  Having briefly had their tails up Harriers now had the stuffing knocked out of them and struggled to re-impose themselves on the game and despite their numerical disadvantage Torquay seemed comfortably in control of the match.

There was more drama at the end though as Harriers threw men forward; in stoppage time United's hero Hurst became the villain when he hauled down substitute Jamie Spencer in the penalty area.  Styche kept his cool to send Spiess the wrong way from the spot and level the scores with his third goal of the season.
