Harriers stretched their unbeaten run to five games with a narrow victory over Altrincham at Aggborough. Following on from their wasted opportunity in the draw at Boston at the weekend Harriers once again dominated the game but this time were able to see it out without being made to pay for failing to take their chances. Harriers, unchanged once again, were given more of a test by their visitors than they had been at Boston but still had the greater share of possession. Andrew Dawber in the Alty goal was the goalkeeper who had the most work, saving from Tyrell Waite and Mani Dieseruvwe while at the other end Damian Reeves spurned their best chance. The only goal of the game came two minutes from the interval; James McQuilkin's pass put Waite in on the right who got to the byline before pulling the ball back to Arthur Gnahoua who lashed the ball into the roof of the net from a narrow angle at the near post. Former Harrier James Lawrie almost levelled the scores just past the hour mark when he spotted Sam Hornby off his line and lofted a speculative effort goalwards from the half-way line but it landed on top of the net and Harriers could breathe again. In the closing stages Harriers had opportunities to make the game safe; substitute Liam Truslove's run and cross on the right came to Dieseruvwe but his shot on the turn was saved by Dawber. Then, a McQuilkin free-kick hit the wall, the ball running to Truslove whose cross was headed just over the bar by Andre Brown. |
